The Cost of Waterfall Contracts

While reading over Mitch Lacey's excellent new book, The Scrum Field Guide last night, I came across an image in the chapter about traditional vs. agile contracts that I think rather hilariously drives home the point about why customers are losing faith in single-pass/phased (aka waterfall) projects.  While definitely understandable from the vendor's point of view, there's something wrong with a process that so severely punishes customers for getting what they want, not just what they asked for.
